Finance Manager

- Salary up to £60,000 per annum

The role will report to the Business Intelligence and Reporting Manager; and has line management of the cost team. We are looking for someone who is happy to take ownership of their own projects, and that can add wider value to the team and the organisation. We like to work in a collaborative manner and therefore want someone who has the confidence and knowledge to make a positive contribution to discussions and when relevant can research new ideas independently with minimal guidance for wider consideration.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts and board reports for the group, co-ordinating all activities and other staff that contribute to the final pack
  • Ownership of monthly reporting for different business departments, including:
  • Actual and budget expenditure analysis and reports for budget holders
  • Business partnering with department heads to help them to understand and improve their results
  • Liaising with other areas of the finance team and the wider business to ensure month end procedures are completed on schedule and financial information is kept up to date
  • Updating forecasts based on changing market data and performance
  • Balance sheet reconciliations for all companies in the group, including:
  • Accruals and prepayments
  • Accrued and deferred income
  • Intercompany transactions and recharges
  • Cash book reconciliations, monitoring bank balances and cashflow reporting, and making payments.
  • Managing and updating the fixed asset register including additions and disposals and keeping track of company lease agreements
  • Preparation and submission of monthly VAT returns for the group
  • Assisting with annual audit preparation and reviewing statutory accounts
  • The continuous review and improvement of accounting procedures
  • Updating the corporation tax forecasts and making recommendations for quarterly instalment payments
  • Assisting other areas of the finance team with ad hoc queries as required

  • Relevant accounting experience with strong technical knowledge
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Good working knowledge of financial systems
