Group Financial Controller

As the Group Financial Controller you will be responsible for empowering the Finance Team to achieve results.. You'll report to the Finance Director regarding all financial and accounting activities and oversee day-to-day operations in the team. This is a very hands-on role requiring a proactive approach, working with the team to meet tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- To manage the Finance team; a focus of this role will be to inspire and develop staff to fulfil their potential.
- To oversee the Group Finance Manager and their management accounts team in preparing the management accounts.
- To manage the whole process of accounts receivable from invoicing to debt collection, ensuring a right first-time approach to minimise unnecessary delays in receipt of payments.
- To be responsible for all general ledger and accounting controls, including balance sheet reconciliations.
- To maintain a full and detailed cash flow forecast providing timely notifications to the FD when cash is forecast to be restricted.
- To ensure statutory returns have been filed (VAT, PAYE, CIS).
- To work with the FD and Business Intelligence Manager to identify underlying trends in the financial data to help drive future profitability.
- To contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities.
- To actively seek opportunities to streamline processes or make them more robust, implementing new ideas.
- To manage the year end audit.
- To be flexible and use experience on other projects as required by the company.
- To deal with external sources, including the bank, auditors, and HMRC.

- Strong leadership skills, with a real drive to motivate, develop and support team members
- Excellent interpersonal skills for forming strong working relationships with colleagues and external contacts
- Strong Excel skills
- Pride in achieving high attention to detail and meeting tight deadlines.
- Well organised and capable of managing several different projects or workstreams simultaneously.
- A confident, effective communicator who's very comfortable working with senior managers and directors across the company and representing the business externally.
- Significant experience of managing diverse teams
- Knowledge of accounting standards
- Good working knowledge of financial systems
