Health and Safety Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Health & Safety Manager. The purpose of this is role it to ensure the client adheres to legal, regulatory and ethical standards, in-house policies and to provide guidance and expertise on all compliance related matters
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the laboratory is a safe working environment complying with relevant legislation.
- Ensure that the company's policies and procedures comply with regulatory and ethical standards.
- Conduct audits and reviews to ensure effective execution of compliance standards.
- Review and revise current policies; draft and modify new policies and implement all company policies.
- Review procedures and provide reports periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
- Design and develop control systems to maintain highest compliance protocols and prevent or tackle violations of legal guidelines and internal policies.
- Evaluate the efficiency of controls and strive for continuous improvement.
- Review and monitor systems, staff and practices to ensure they are up to date and delivering high quality services.
- Conduct investigations when compliance issues arise and provide and implement robust solutions.
- Ensure regular risk assessments are carried out and implement remedial actions where required.
- Responsibility for development and compliance with management systems, including:
Quality management systems
- Laboratory operations manual
- Laboratory environmental policies
- Laboratory 17025 management system
What you will need:
- Strong background and in-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations in a high-risk environment
- A leader with good management skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- A strong relationship builder with a personable style and good communication skills
- An analytical mind able to see the complexities of procedures and regulations.
- Good management skills with the ability to influence and engage with direct/indirect reports and peers.
- Good understanding of Compliance regulation
- Strong attention to detail, who can ensure policy and procedures are followed.
- A good understanding of principles of fire safety

- IPAF
- IOSH Managing Safely
- NEBOSH Qualification
- BSI Diploma
