My client is currently recruiting for a permanent Multi Trade operative to join their team. The role requires you to undertake a variety of construction tasks on existing high-end residential properties, consisting of predominantly maintenance and repair as well as minor refurbishment works. To work independently and proactively and to resolve problems where issue arise through diagnosing defects and issues using traditional construction methods.

This role will involve communicating and managing clients directly and therefore maintaining high standards throughout.

MAIN RESPONSIBLITIES

  • To complete small scale general building tasks, including but not limited to - drylining and plastering, masonry and decoration
  • To attend any training when required
  • To adhere to working hours guidelines as defined by contract of employment, custom and practice of the organisation and in accordance with UK employment law
  • To measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk and marking gauge
  • To verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level
  • To shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines or power tools
  • To study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and required materials
  • To assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins or glue
  • To build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors and other wood fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools and power
  • To erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level, subject to relevant training
  • To install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, and trim, or hardware, using carpenter's hand and power tools
  • To select and order wood and other required materials
  • To maintain records, document actions and present written progress reports
  • To finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses and buildings hand tools and panelling

What you will need:

  • To have a Carpentry background
  • To be able to undertake small scale general building tasks, including but not limited to - drylining and plastering, masonry and decoration.
  • To be meticulously well organised and strong levels of planning and time management
  • To hold excellent interpersonal skills; strong levels of communication
  • To demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of carpentry and general building competencies
  • To have general knowledge of building materials, traditional construction methods and related disciplines
