Ivy Resource Group are recruiting for a talented and driven Quantity Surveyor to support commercial operations on a major infrastructure scheme - the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Project, a nationally significant flood defence development in Somerset.
Our client is a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor seeking a dedicated Quantity Surveyor to join their South West region on a permanent basis, with time split between the Bridgwater site and regional office, offering flexible working arrangements.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll support cost planning, contract administration, and procurement, while working closely with senior commercial staff and engineers to ensure cost-effective project execution.

What You Will Be Doing:
Support the commercial management of a major civil engineering project
Prepare and manage cost estimates, project budgets, and subcontractor tenders
Track and report on cost performance and project variances
Assist with contract administration (NEC3/NEC4) and ensure compliance
Prepare valuations, applications for payment, and manage variations
Contribute to cash flow forecasting and financial reporting
Support subcontractor negotiation and procurement
Maintain accurate project documentation and cost records
Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure commercial objectives are met
Assist in resolving commercial queries and contract issues
What We Need From You:
Experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within civil engineering or infrastructure
Familiarity with NEC contracts (NEC3 or NEC4 preferred)
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
Strong commercial awareness and budgeting skills
Competence in MS Excel and other cost/project management tools
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
Keen eye for detail and commitment to high standards
Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field (or equivalent experience)
Membership or working towards membership of RICS (preferred but not essential)
Desirable Experience:
Experience on flood defence, marine, or infrastructure projects
Familiarity with digital construction tools (e.g., BIM)
Working in environments with multiple stakeholders and tight timelines
Salary & Benefits:
£55,000 - £60,000 (DOE)
