Ivy Resource Group are recruiting for a talented and driven Quantity Surveyor to support commercial operations on a major infrastructure scheme - the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Project, a nationally significant flood defence development in Somerset.

Our client is a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor seeking a dedicated Quantity Surveyor to join their South West region on a permanent basis, with time split between the Bridgwater site and regional office, offering flexible working arrangements.

The role entails:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a prestigious flood protection scheme and take on a key role in the commercial delivery of civil engineering works. As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll support cost planning, contract administration, and procurement, while working closely with senior commercial staff and engineers to ensure cost-effective project execution.

You'll contribute to budgeting, risk management, subcontractor performance, and financial reporting - and be part of a high-performing, collaborative commercial team.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Support the commercial management of a major civil engineering project

  • Prepare and manage cost estimates, project budgets, and subcontractor tenders

  • Track and report on cost performance and project variances

  • Assist with contract administration (NEC3/NEC4) and ensure compliance

  • Prepare valuations, applications for payment, and manage variations

  • Contribute to cash flow forecasting and financial reporting

  • Support subcontractor negotiation and procurement

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and cost records

  • Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure commercial objectives are met

  • Assist in resolving commercial queries and contract issues


What We Need From You:

  • Experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within civil engineering or infrastructure

  • Familiarity with NEC contracts (NEC3 or NEC4 preferred)

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and scopes of work

  • Strong commercial awareness and budgeting skills

  • Competence in MS Excel and other cost/project management tools

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities

  • Keen eye for detail and commitment to high standards

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Membership or working towards membership of RICS (preferred but not essential)


Desirable Experience:

  • Experience on flood defence, marine, or infrastructure projects

  • Familiarity with digital construction tools (e.g., BIM)

  • Working in environments with multiple stakeholders and tight timelines


Salary & Benefits:
